Pika Frozen Bitter Leaves 300g are frozen bitter leaf (also known as onugbu or ewuro) — the distinctively bitter green at the heart of Nigerian bitter leaf soup (ofe onugbu). Pre-washed and frozen, this pack saves the traditional, time-consuming step of repeatedly washing and squeezing the fresh leaves to reduce their bitterness.

How to prepare

• No need to thaw — add directly from frozen to your soup pot.
• If you prefer a milder result, rinse briefly before adding, though pre-washed packs already have much of the raw bitterness reduced.
• Combine with cocoyam or achi as a thickener, palm oil, assorted meat, stockfish and crayfish for ofe onugbu.

Storage

• Keep frozen at -18°C until ready to use. Once opened, use promptly and do not refreeze.
